Cold Spring Harbor

Cold Spring Harbor

With a picturesque harbor serving as a backdrop, the community of Cold Spring Harbor, once a whaling village, is popular for its waterside park and historic downtown.  The town and its surroundings lend to a feeling of a New England village complete with turn of the century homes, rich wooded areas and stately mansions a short distance from the village.

The town is in close proximity to Cold Spring Harbor train station and the Village of Huntington.  The Cold Spring Harbor Main Street Association plans festive events throughout the year, such as sidewalk sales with live music, a Halloween dog parade and holiday celebrations. Homes located in Cold Spring Harbor have deeded rights to Eagle Dock Beach Association located off Shore Road in Cold Spring Harbor.  Access to the popular Green Belt can be found just south of the village and allows for miles of hiking within the woods with peaks of the harbor along a good portion of the trails.

The newly built Cold Spring Harbor Library and Environmental Center on Harbor Road have spectacular water views.  The community also is home to the Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery and Aquarium, the Nature Conservancy's Uplands Farm Nature Sanctuary, The Dolan DNA Learning Center, which focuses on genetics education and is a unit of the world renowned Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory.
Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is world famous for its association with the mapping of DNA, James Watson and a host of other leading minds in multiple sciences.  Inspiring concerts, talks and seminars are hosted throughout the year at this incredible facility.
